Refubrication of the building into the training center of the dental clinic in Zabierzów

The design task was to reconstruct and change the way of use into a training centre at a dental clinic. A significant element of the entire design puzzle was the first visit to the plot. The investor approached us with an order to reconstruct and adapt an existing single-family building into a small training centre with a showroom, located right next to the building plot where his new clinic is being built. Expecting a small, uncomplicated building, only after visiting the site did we find out that it would not be such an easy task. The building, although small, had a multi-pitched roof, bay window, red concrete roof tiles, yellow walls and many other details characteristic of single-family housing from the 2000s. So we were dealing with a rather archaic shape, and right next to it a new, beautiful clinic was being built, dressed in a contemporary style. We decided to treat our building monochromatically and encase it in a kind of modern skin. The light, openwork structure is the skin of the building mentioned earlier. Its purpose is to simplify the shape, hide protruding eaves, gutters and other elements of the facade. The “skin” is a cut-drawn mesh mounted on a steel frame, and the whole is powder-coated in dark gray. The walls and roof will also be finished in this color, the whole will constitute one monochromatic object. We took the cut-drawn mesh from the “neighbor” – a newly built facility designed by another architectural studio. We wanted to create a “thread of understanding” between these two buildings, which, standing very close to each other, willy-nilly will form a team. To emphasize the distinctiveness of our building, we used a contrasting color – the building of the new clinic is treated in white, while ours is in dark gray – almost black. To break this dark gray tone, the window and door linings will be finished in warm wood.
