Competition entry for residential complex concept in Gliwice
The concept aimed to create an intimate, low-density residential development while meeting the competition requirements for the number of apartments. Two building types were proposed: corridor blocks and point blocks, each in several variants, with repetitive upper floors and differentiated ground levels. The corridor blocks are arranged to form an urban interior reminiscent of a quarter, while still preserving space between buildings. The point blocks, loosely placed in the center, define the heart of the complex with a recreational area for residents. Vehicular circulation is organized as a loop, with geometry designed to slow down traffic. Along Wojciecha Street, 3-story buildings reflect the scale of the neighboring development. Further into the site, the height transitions smoothly to 4 stories, with a 6-story point block at the northern edge serving as the dominant feature. This arrangement ensures optimal sunlight for both the apartments and shared outdoor spaces.
